Dear Teachers,

We kindly ask that Phoebe’s hearing aid be removed

during the following activities:

🌊 Activities Involving Water, Mud, or Food:

  • Water play (e.g., water guns, water parks, pools)

  • In the rain

  • Mud or sand play (especially when hands may get dirty)

🤸‍♀️ High-Contact or High-Risk Activities:

  • Gymnastics and trampoline use

  • Biking or riding a scooter (helmet fit is also a concern)

  • Ice-skating and skiing

  • Rolling or tumbling on the floor

Please ensure her hearing aid stays on while she’s indoors, especially during classroom activities. It’s also fine to keep it on during regular walking and light play.

While Phoebe’s right ear functions well, sound localization becomes challenging without her hearing aid, which can affect her awareness and participation.

🔧 If the Hearing Aid Gets Wet or Stops Working:

If Phoebe says “it’s not working” or the device gets wet, please notify us as soon as possible. Repairs can take time, and we’d prefer to contact the audiology clinic right away to begin the process (e.g., ordering a replacement, arranging pickup, etc.). Often, “it’s not working” simply means the battery needs replacing 😊.The Dri-Aid container is the best place to store her hearing aid whenever it’s not in use. If it’s unavailable, please use the provided case.

💛 Thank You

We deeply appreciate your understanding and the extra care you give to Phoebe and her hearing aid. Since September 2023, Phoebe has begun noticing differences between herself and her peers, occasionally expressing feelings like “I wish I had a bigger ear.”

Your support in helping her navigate these moments with confidence and kindness means the world to us.

As of Summer 2025, Phoebe uses a new device called OSIA--please have take your time to view the 2025 New Device page.

Warm regards, Phoebe and the family
